Graham “Mero” Merrigan
Graham “Mero” Merrigan is part time local celebrity who has attended more weddings and christenings than the Holy Spirit and Jesus combined. He is 30-years-old and is born and bred in the heartland of South Dublin, Ballybrack.
Having completed a diploma in media studies, Graham instantly set about using his knowledge of the media world and cemented his celebrity status when he appeared in three television adverts within a year. This made him as well-known as Barry Scott from Ciliit Bang and the weird eyebrow kids from the Cadbury’s ad a few years ago.
Mero is a wheelchair athlete who has rolled around the world and back. Having tasted the exotic offerings of New Zealand, Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Vietnam, Termonfeckin and Bray (Bré); Mero is adamant that there is no finer view than Killiney Bay from the Vico Road and you won’t get a better school than St. Laurence College.
While Mero was touring Japan with his hit one man show; “Wheeling is believing” there was a devastating tremor which caused no disruptions and two lamps to fall over in a hotel room. Despite the majority of Japan having no idea this tremor even happened, Mero was hailed by international press as a hero as he ignored the imaginary warnings to stay out of the non-crumbling buildings.
Taking inspiration from his great hero, Hulk Hogan, Merriganmania ran wild in Tokyo as he put his life on the line to race into the structurally sound building and “rescue” 49 children and a goldfish from a school that were in no danger at all.
He is currently the captain of wheelchair basketball team, Ballybrack Bulls and claims to have beaten Michael Jordan in at least four Slam Dunk contests. Mero fulfilled his dream of appearing on RTE's hit soap, Fair City, when he played the part of "Rocco". A statue of Rocco now sits outside Carrigstown's Spar with the immortal words "Any Parking?" etched into the base.
There have been unconfirmed reports Ronda Rousey has seen Graham's appearance in Fair City and is currently in the process of Arm Barring every script writer until Rocco returns.
